In many of our remote and most pristine protected areas, people have co-existed with wildlife for centuries. However, with growing populations, there is increasing pressure on the limited natural resources on which both are dependent. The common results of this pressure are overexploitation and human wildlife conflict. Forests are depleted and crops are destroyed not by choice, but by necessity.
Our community livelihood programs are aimed at restoring the harmonious co-existence of man and beast. Tourism ventures, food security initiatives and education are some of the ways we can support the communities living in close proximity to wildlife areas. As co-custodians of the environment, empowering them will greatly reduce poaching and the destructive effects of human wildlife conflict.
