The plants and animals that live in our rivers and streams are sensitive to changes in water quality. Polluted or altered ecosystems can greatly affect how their elements respond to the environment, including the communities that depend on these ecosystems for survival. Zimbabwe is home to Lake Kariba, the largest man-made lake in the world. Along with other water bodies in the country, our scientists constantly observe the water quality and interaction of the species therein.
As we wage war against pollution and climate change, our scientists guide the interventions we make through in-depth analyses of the various freshwater ecosystems in Zimbabwe. Boats, sonar equipment, and so much more are needed to gather data and collect samples.
