Wildlife Translocation

One of the most iconic stories of translocations in Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia) was Operation Noah, where 5,000 animals were rescued from flooding.

Wildlife translocations have been used as a conservation tool for decades as wildlife populations become increasingly fragmented and endangered. Not only are translocations used to ensure the survival of a species but may aid the management of issues concerning habitat destruction (due to overpopulation) and human wildlife conflict.

Nonetheless, translocations are a demanding endeavor, they require significant sums of money, time and resources.
