ZIMBABWE PARKS AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
PLANNING OFFICER (GRADE D1)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the above position which is based at the Corporate Centre. The incumbent will be reporting to the Principal Park Planning Officer.

Duties (Responsibilities)
  • Updates and develops 10 - year Protected Area Management Plans (PAMPs),
  • Updates and develops 5 - year Species Specific Plans (SSPs),
  • Defines, describes, and delineates ecosystems/ produces zonation plans,
  • Produces inventories of species,
  • Collaborates and engages with stakeholders,
  • Mobilizes resources for producing PAMPs, implementation process and monitoring and evaluation exercises,
  • Prepares and produces monthly, quarterly, half year and annual reports, baseline survey reports, consultation reports, meeting minutes and any other reports as assigned,
  • Crafts monitoring and evaluation plans for various PAMPs,
  • Conducts monitoring and evaluation of PAMPs,
  • Coordinates and facilitates stakeholder meetings/ workshops and events,
  • Produces annual work plans and budgets,
  • Carries out any other duties as assigned by the Principal Park Planning Officer.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • First degree in Rural and Urban Planning, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management or related field of study,
  • At least one (1) year experience in protected area planning,
  • Demonstrates ability to apply Geographic Information System/ Remote Sensing (GIS/ RS) tools in planning
  • Ability to use Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool (METT) and (Integrated Management Effectiveness Tool) IMET, World Heritage Outlook in monitoring plan implementation
  • Ability of harness various data collection skills
  • Good writing skills
